Mauritius [#2]

I write this post with a heavy heart, but I hope it becomes a little lighter by the time I finish. Truthfully, I haven’t really had that motivation to post anything these past few months since our world got struck with this pandemic #Covid19 but remembering the comfort I feel with just typing up my thoughts gave me the urge to share. I’ve decided to write part two a little different.

With prayer, I know God will pull us through, putting an end to this outbreak and changing our lives for the better. For now, I want to reminisce to times of happiness by sharing with you some beauty in the world and of people who help lift our hearts in this overwhelming time.

Chelsea, an inspiring woman I follow on Instagram (I’ll link her feed so you can be inspired too! Chelseakauai ) has this rule to “Never miss a sunset,” a beautiful habit that brings so much joy to her life and which is so influential to see. A sunrise and a sunset have their purposes. Both share an often unrecognised purpose for a tranquil time of peace and reflection; the time for collecting our thoughts and enhancing our wellbeing. It is a practice we often overlook, not always allowing the free flow of our hearts and the refocus of our minds. With that being said, let us refocus our minds on habits which bring about true happiness such as allowing the peace God gives us to renew our minds, and not what the world is giving.

Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realise they were the big things. A quote which is known to many and one which is so relevant to our lives right now. With physical distancing being absolutely vital at this time and with it strangely being how we show our love for one another, I can’t help but look back at the times we got to share love in a different way, in the form of hugs, handshakes, catch ups at opened cafes and restaurants, conversations with people without the anxious thought of a pandemic in mind and a smile towards a stranger instead of a look of fear, you know – just that care free love. It really is all about the sweet little things in life we can often take for granted.

One fact about these dunes is that they never seem to erode, even through heavy and frequent rain, their natural beauty full of colour remain throughout. Like these dunes, I pray our world can remain colourful and strong together in overcoming this sudden downpour we are facing. Being selfless in our daily moves is essential in bringing about the love and light our world so desperately needs. Selflessness is what is needed to override that seemingly ever-growing dark cloud. Our actions truly have a big role on how this all plans out.

Make peace with stillness, for in silence we learn to be one with our own greatness.

Music clears my head, lifts my spirits and has its own way of healing. I had to end this post with some sweet sounds and so I hope this beautiful song by Charlotte M lifts any heaviness from your heart because it sure did from mine.

Stay well and pray for better days.

With love
