The friendly hellos, the warm welcomes, the “Pinch me, I’m dreaming” views and the delicious food with flavours that never disappoint are just a sprinkle of the goodness Mauritius is enriched with.
I could write for hours about the visit to this spectacular destination (which is why there will be a part 2) but being a lover of the concept “short and sweet,” I am going to stick to giving you a taste of the best parts of the Mauritian culture, keeping this post as sweet as I can (but be sure to reach out or leave a comment if you want to know more!).
Heritage Awali Golf and Spa Resort
The sound of rhythmic drumming followed by the receival of warm hand towels and the attentive service of drinks upon arrival were just the beginning of the friendly hospitality to come at this beautiful resort located on the south coast of the island. I mean nothing beats a homely welcome after hours of travel right?!
The resort emphasises on African elegance and lifestyle.

Seven Colours Spa
“Wellness comes in colours.”
The highlight of this resort for me personally was the tranquil seven colours spa where I focused on soothing mind, body, and spirit. The experience took me through thoughts on how important it is to make time for myself and to ensure it is a priority that is scheduled in life. The seven colours are believed to represent the seven focal points of the ‘subtle body’ known as ‘chakras’ and the spa offers a variety of Mauritian massages that can either focus on all seven or just one specifically. I’ll link their spa menu below if you would like to know more about it and the many other facilities they have to offer.

The views of the picturesque exotic huts and greenery whilst soaking into their vitality pool heated at perfect temperature (You could honestly stay in there for hours); then allowing my skin to embrace the heat in the steam room and sauna were always the perfect end to my time at the spa, leaving me feeling completely refreshed. They also have an ice bath right outside the sauna however my body wasn’t quite brave enough to experience the cold shock, I’m sure it will be one day!
Kimono: PrettyLittleThing
The vibrant olive colour of this kimono highlights the vibrance and elegance of the Heritage Awali resort in Mauritius. The rope tie around the waist gives the look a great finish over a bikini. Bright, light in weight, comfortable and super stylish for a holiday in the sun.
Unfortunately, it is now out of stock at the time of writing this but I have linked an alternative from Missguided which is very similar to the look. It is just longer in length and has cuffed sleeves which I love. It is going for a great price also and may be just what you need if you’re going away somewhere hot soon!

Food
Domaine de Bel Ombre is full of diverse cuisines within a variety of restaurants. There are five restaurants located within the heritage Awali resort and the resort also allows you to experience other restaurants located at the sister hotel, Heritage Le Telfair, using the complementary shuttle service.
Note; The chips at Zenzi bar are incredible, possibly the best chips I’ve ever tasted #TrustMe! The food at certain restaurants did take a while to get to me once ordered but you forget about the wait once you have that first bite #GoodFood. I’ll link the different restaurants below so you can check them out.
Every morning, breakfasts were spent at Savana indulging in a buffet with a gorgeous view of the Indian Ocean.

A few of my favourite fresh mouthwatering dishes and desserts at Savana, Infinity Blue and Kuzini. If you love Indian food, Zafarani is for you!
